WHAT IS IMMERSIVE VIDEO

Immersive video is a type of digital media designed to make the viewer feel physically present inside the scene. Unlike traditional, flat 2D videos that limit your view to a rectangular frame, immersive video wraps around the viewer’s field of view and reacts dynamically to head tracking or user navigation, simulating a lifelike perspective.

Field of View (FOV) Formats

The visual layout of immersive video is categorized by how much of the environment it captures:

  • 180-Degree Video (VR180): Captures a half-sphere directly in front of the viewer. It completely fills your forward field of view and periphery, eliminating the need to look behind you.

  • 360-Degree Video: Captures a full sphere surrounding the viewer. Viewers can look up, down, and entirely behind themselves.

  • Wide Field of View (WFoV): A hybrid format that is wider than traditional cinema frames but does not quite reach a full 180 degrees.
